PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENGENAL LAMBANG BILANGAN 0 – 10 MELALUI MEDIA PLAYDOUGH PADA SISWA AUTIS DI SLB NEGERI 1 BANTUL

Abstract

This research was conducted to prove that playdough media can improve the ability to recognize number symbols in children with autism in grade 4 of SLB Negeri 1 Bantul. Based on the pre-action observation, it was revealed that the ability of the research subjects to recognize number symbols 0-10 was still low  so the teaching media to help them understand is needed. Indicator of achievement in this research is based on the improvement of learning result in every post-test of cycle one and cycle two and based on the improvement of learning activity that is shown by the minimum category of observation result is good. The approach that is used in this research is descriptive quantitative approach. Research design of this research is classroom action research design.This clasroom action research was conducted in two cycles, every cycle consists of three meetings or giving  treatment through playdough media.The three subjects of this research were children with autism with different abilities. In post-test of the treatment of cycle one, two subjects got 2 points of improvement and one subject was passive and got no improvement. However, in post-test of cycle two , all of the three subjects got score improvement. Eventhough two subjects still got the average and poor category, this result fulfilled the expected indicator of achievement which was shown by achieving good category on the percentage of  learning  activity.
