Abstract
This research aims 1) to describe the use of ICT-based learning media in Social Sciences (IPS) subjects. 2) to increase learning interest and learning outcomes in Social Sciences (IPS) subjects. 3) To find out the factors that support and hinder the use of ICT-based learning media. 4) To find out the benefits of using ICT-based learning media in class VIII social studies subjects. This type of research is qualitative research. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 6 Sungai Rotan. The time of the research is January – March 2024. The research subjects are curriculum assistants, teachers and students. Primary data was obtained from interviews with the head of curriculum, teachers and students, as well as observations of various activities in the field. Secondary data is obtained from relevant books, school documents, archives and other data owned by the school. Data collection methods use interviews, observation and documentation. Data validity techniques use triangulation. The conclusions in this research are 1) the use of ICT learning media in social studies subjects for class VIII students by using laptops and using LCD projectors and sound systems. 2) Using technology-based learning media in social studies learning can increase interest and learning outcomes in social studies, this can be seen from students having high curiosity, students being able to think critically, students being enthusiastic when learning social studies, and social studies learning outcomes also increasing as seen from the results of working on evaluation questions given by the teacher. 3) Supporting factors in ICT learning include supporting facilities such as the availability of laptops, LCD projectors, quality sound systems, adequate computer laboratories, strong internet networks, and teachers who have expertise or competence in operating technology, while inhibiting factors in its use ICT-based learning media are 1) there are still teachers who do not have the competence/expertise in operating ICT-based media 2) the availability of LCDs is not sufficient in each class, 3) there is a lack of effective learning time because teachers have to prepare related devices by preparing laptops/LCDs in class 4) The benefits of using ICT-based learning media are a) the teacher can easily explain the learning material, b) it can make it easier for students to understand the material. c) Teachers can make the class interactive and make learning fun.
