Abstract

This study aims to explore the condition of student character in the context of social studies learning, identify factors that influence cheating behavior, and assess the effectiveness of instilling positive character values to overcome cheating culture. This research method uses qualitative research with a case study method. Data is collected through observation, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis techniques use qualitative data analysis of the interactive model from Sugiono. The results of this study indicate that social studies learning oriented to positive character values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, mutual respect, can help reduce the culture of cheating. In addition, the development of social studies materials based on competence and character, as well as the application of active learning, participatory, and contextual, is needed to solidify the role of social studies learning in the formation of positive student character. As well as factors that influence the culture of cheating because they feel pressured by academic demands and high expectations from teachers and parents as well as a lack of understanding of learning materials.
