IMPROVING MOTIVATION, DISCIPLINE, AND TEACHER PERFORMANCE THROUGH A COACHING APPROACH

Abstract

This research aims to increase teacher motivation, discipline, and teacher performance  through a coaching approach at SMK PGRI 2 Lahat. This research is School Action Research. The  subjects of this research were 47 teachers. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation  and questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive techniques with  percentages. The results of the research concluded that 1) increasing teacher motivation through the  coaching approach at SMK PGRI 2 Lahat in the 2023/2024 academic year was proven by the work  motivation of teachers in the minimum good category in the pre-cycle obtained by 26 teachers (55.32%), increasing in Cycle I to 31 teachers (65.96%) and increased in Cycle II to 39 teachers (82.98%). 2) Increasing teacher discipline through a coaching approach at SMK PGRI 2 Lahat in the 2023/2024 academic year, this is proven by the minimum good category of teacher discipline in the pre-Cycle obtained by 26 teachers (55.32%), increasing in Cycle I to 31 teachers ( 65.96%) and increased in Cycle II to 39 teachers (82.98%). 3) Increasing teacher performance through a coaching approach at SMK PGRI 2 Lahat in the 2023/2024 academic year, as evidenced by the performance of teachers in the pre-cycle category which was at least good, obtained by 28 teachers (59.57%), increasing in Cycle I to 32 teachers (68 .09%) and increased in Cycle II to 39 teachers (82.98%).
