The ROLE OF INSTITUTIONAL COMMUNICATION IN THE AR RAIHAN PARENTS‘ SCHOOL PROGRAMME FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ CHARACTER AT AR RAIHAN BANTUL FOUNDATION

This article aims to analyze the role of institutional communication in the Ar-Raihan Parent School (SOTA) program for developing the character of students at the Ar Raihan Bantul Foundation with a focus on the communication process between institutions and parents on the development of students' character. The type of research used in this research is qualitative-naturalistic. The method used is a case study approach, this research describes supporting and inhibiting factors such as "the role of communication in parents' school programs", and "the role of parents in developing children's character". Data was collected through observations, interviews and documentation which was strengthened by an extensive literature review including journal articles, books and other relevant sources to understand the research subject comprehensively. The results of this research show that: (1) the communication patterns of institutions, teachers and parents are implemented on the needs of student character development and the Ar-Raihan Parent School (SOTA) program. SOTA program activities are implemented at three levels, namely basic, advanced and intensive. In its implementation, the SOTA program is implemented in two ways, namely online via zoom meeting and offline directly at the Ar-Raihan school in Bantul. The education of parents of SOTA participants regarding parenting patterns for children's character development is carried out in daily activities at home and reported through their respective homeroom teachers in the SOTA group WhatsApp group; (2) the role of parents in developing the character of students at the Ar-Raihan Foundation, one of which is by participating in the Ar-Raihan Parent School (SOTA) program.
