Abstract
Postpartum or commonly known as the puerperium is a period that begins after the birth of the placenta and the uterus returns to its pre-pregnancy state, which lasts for 6 weeks or 42 days. The postpartum period is also a very important period to determine the degree of health status of the mother and newborn. The stages in the postpartum period are divided into three periods, namely the immediate postpartum or early puerperium period, the intermedial or early postpartum period, and the late postpartum period. Postpartum visits are important during the postpartum period. Postpartum visits are conducted at least four times to determine the status of the mother and the status of the newborn to prevent, detect, and treat various problems that occur during the postpartum period. The purpose of this community service is to analyze (1) assistance in the form of postpartum visits to mothers and newborns, (2) cultural aspects that are still carried out on postpartum mothers and newborns, (3) problems and obstacles that occur during the postpartum period. This service method is in the form of counseling by interviewing directly and asking several questions about postpartum visits and obstacles that occur during the postpartum period. The participants of this counseling activity were mothers who had just given birth in Hamparan perak Sub-District, Paluh Kurau Village Hamlet 14 which was held on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The results of this counseling activity found that there were differences in postpartum visits that occurred between mothers who gave birth normally at home and mothers who gave birth normally in the hospital. Although there are differences in postpartum visits, obstacles and problems do not occur and do not affect the health status of mothers and newborns.
