Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

General Information

  1. Article processing takes at least 4—20 weeks (maybe more) to get ACCEPTED status. The information published in the edition will be provided after the administration meets the author, who will be informed via email. 
  2. Articles have never been published in other media and do not contain the element of plagiarism, proven by a written statement from the author.
  3. Each manuscript will be checked for indication of plagiarism using Turnitin. The Editor has the right to reject articles that are indicated to contain more than 15% plagiarism. 
  4. Articles must be written in Indonesian or English (US style) and follow the specified format. Editors will reject articles that do not fit the template
  5. Article manuscript are typed in Times New Roman font 12-point (specifically, the title is written in 14-point and bold), single-spaced, on A4-size paper with a margin of 3 cm. Manuscripts consist of 3,000—7,500 words (maximum 15 pages), including bibliography and tables. 
  6. The manuscript is written with a word processing application and must be stored in a DOC or DOCX format (max 1 Mb).
  7. The systematic writing of the article manuscript follows the template and style of the Journal of Indonesian Linguistic and Literature Studies journal.
  8. The bibliography must be written alphabetically and sequentially following the APA 7th edition style.
  9. All manuscripts must be sent to the Editor via the Journal of Indonesian Linguistic and Literature Studies journal webpage. Editors do not accept submissions or revisions by email.
  10. Published or rejected articles will be notified to the authors via email. Articles that are not published due to rejection remain the right of the author and can be submitted to other journals.
  11. Editors only receive communication via email during the publishing process, such as notification of peer review results, manuscript revision information, and final decisions. Manuscript submissions and revision submissions are sent via the OJS system on the Journal of Indonesian Linguistic and Literature Studies website.
  12. Authors are required to complete minor and major revisions requested by the Editor according to the recommendations of the peer reviewers.
  13. For articles written in English, it is mandatory to adhere to grammar conventions, and it is preferred if they have undergone proofreading.

Writing Guidelines

  1. Articles must be written in Indonesian or English (US style) and follow the template.
  2. The title is written in Indonesian, followed by English for Indonesian articles, and the title is written in English, followed by Indonesian for English articles.
  3. The author's identity follows the following rules: the author's name is written in full, not abbreviated, and without the title. Writing begins with the first author, followed by the second, third, and so on without hyphens; each author's origin and e-mail address correspondence is written under the author's name. If the author is more than one person with a different agency address, behind each name is given an index or Arabic number (1, 2, 3, etc.), and one author represents the e-mail correspondence. Orcid ID is also required.
  4. Abstracts are written in Indonesian and English with a length of 150—200 words. Abstract in English is written first, followed by an abstract in Indonesian. Abstracts must contain an article summary; do not use abbreviations and quotes/reference sources in the abstract. Abstracts are followed by keywords 2-5 words/phrases, separated by commas, and are not terminated. Abstracts in English must use the US English style. 
  5. The introduction contains the background of the problem that explains the phenomena to be studied with the support of the most recent reference sources (last 10 years) and the results of previous related studies. The introduction also contains problems (preferably one problem that is the focus of research), research objectives, research benefits, and theories used to solve problems—a maximum of 30% of the entire body of the manuscript. 
  6. The method contains the methods used in the research conducted and should be described clearly and in detail—a maximum of 10% of the entire body of the manuscript. 
  7. The discussion is presented by explaining the results of the study and the issues raised. The discussion section can be divided into sections—a maximum of 50% of the entire body of the manuscript. 
  8. The conclusions contain a conclusion and a maximum of 10% of the entire body of the manuscript. 
  9. The references contain books, scientific articles, and other sources used in writing articles. The references are the most recent sources from the last 10 years, except for primary sources that are considered important and support the discussion. The references are written alphabetically and sequentially, following the procedure for writing the 7th edition APA Style reference sources. 
  10. Authors must use the Mendeley reference manager to write references and are not allowed to write references manually. 
  11. The references must contain 20 references and at least 80% of primary sources from scientific journals.
  12. Tables and figures must follow the rules in the template.

Types of Decisions

Declined

Following peer review, the paper is judged not acceptable for publication in Journal of Indonesian Linguistic and Literature Studies, and resubmission is impossible. This status is obtained if the script does not match the template, is too high a plagiarism rate, or is not in accordance with the scope of the specified field of study.

Resubmit

The submitted version of the paper is not acceptable and requires major revision, but there is clear potential in work, and Journal of Indonesian Linguistic and Literature Studies is prepared to consider a new version. Authors are offered the opportunity to resubmit their paper as a new submission. Concerns will remain regarding the paper's suitability for publication until the authors convince the editors that their paper fits the scope and standards of Journal of Indonesian Linguistic and Literature Studies. The resubmitted manuscript will be returned to the original associate editor if possible.

Revision

The paper requires changes before a final decision can be made. Authors are asked to modify their manuscript in light of comments received from referees and editors and to submit a new version for consideration within 2—4 weeks of receiving the decision letter. A point-by-point explanation of how comments have been addressed must be supplied with the revised version of the paper. Revisions may undergo further peer review, and papers may undergo more than one round of revision. If the authors do not revise their papers to the editors' satisfaction, the paper can still be declined from publication in Journal of Indonesian Linguistic and Literature Studies.

Accepted

The paper is acceptable for publication, subject to conditions that need to be addressed in producing a final version of the manuscript. These may include sub-editing changes and minor amendments to ensure the paper fully matches our criteria. After final checking in the editorial office, acceptance is confirmed, and the paper is forwarded to the publishers for publication.
