Abstract

Abstract 

Background: The life of modern society that is instantaneous by ignoring a healthy lifestyle is the cause of the risk of degenerative diseases. One of the degenerative diseases that tend to increase is hypercholesterolemia. The accumulation of cholesterol in the body can lead to insulin resistance resulting in an increase in blood glucose levels which   triggers   type   2   diabetes   mellitus   (DM).   Uncontrolled   DM   can   cause complications  in various organ systems  such as hepatopathy. 

Objective: This study aims to examine the histopathological  description of the liver of male hypercholesterolemic diabetic white rats given enzymatic VCO.

Method: This research was experimental with a pre- test and post-test completely randomized design. The research subjects were thirty male rats divided into six groups, namely: normal control, negative control, positive control, dose group 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 mL/200g BW.

Results: The results showed that changes in the histopathological  pictures of the liver in the form of hydropic,  necrotic, and apoptotic degeneration  increased in the negative control, among the group with a dose of 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 mL/200g BW with the average value 2, 1.6, and 1.2 respectively from the highest score the damage of 2.

Conclusion: Enzymatic VCO administration did not give maximum results in improving the liver picture of male white rats.
