Studi kasus gambaran penggunaan obat sakit gigi di Apotek Maguwo Banguntapan Kabupaten Bantul periode bulan Maret-April 2023
Abstract
Background: Toothache is a common complaint experienced by many people and can be caused by various factors, such as tooth infection, gum disease, or trauma. Treatment of toothache in pharmacies often involves the use of drugs that can be used singly or in combination. Case studies of single and combined use of toothache medicines need to be carried out at Maguwo Banguntapan Pharmacy, Banguntapan District, Bantul Regency.
Objective: This study aims to describe the use of toothache medication at Maguwo Banguntapan Pharmacy, Banguntapan District, Bantul Regency. This research is a descriptive survey research using the convenience sampling technique, where the samples taken are samples that are easily found at the research location during the period March to April 2023. Data was collected by asking questions to patients based on needs consisting of patient name, age, gender, number of drugs purchased, purpose of purchase, and duration of drug use.
Results: The results of this study indicate that most patients with a toothache are men with a percentage of 66.67% while in women it is 33.37%. From the results and discussion obtained, it can be concluded that toothache is more often experienced by men with a percentage of 66.67%. In addition, toothache is more often experienced by patients with an age range of 16-30 years (66.67%), and the least experienced by patients aged 1-15 years (6.66%). Most of these events can occur as a result of an unhealthy lifestyle.
Conclusion: The use of a single drug class of NSAIDs (74.07%) is more dominant in the treatment of toothache at Maguwo Banguntapan Pharmacy as the main choice with the duration of drug use only when pain is felt. The use of drug combinations tends to be used for more complex cases that require additional treatment. Knowledge and guidance from pharmacists in the selection of therapy is very important to ensure effective and safe therapy for patients.
