The COVID-19 pandemic has made people more aware of the importance of hygiene. Finger bowl, one of Minang’s cultures that are still alive today and commonly found in Padang restaurants, is a small bowl of water for washing hands before dining. The purpose of this literature study is to examine the potential of the spread of COVID-19 through the use of finger bowl water as an alternative method of washing hands at the sink. In this study, the research method used is a literature study. This research was made so that people could have a better understanding about finger bowl water, which has the opportunity to spread COVID-19, so that people can look for other alternatives to and stop the use of finger bowl during the pandemic. This finding is supported by the opinions of numerous doctors and scientists alike who state that finger bowl water does not clean hands effectively, but instead increases the population of germs or viruses on hands. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends washing your hands under running water so that these germs can be washed away. This is because finger bowl water is essentially stagnant water in a bowl and is the right medium for germs to grow, so it is better to wash hands in running water using soap.
