Abstract

Background: The abuse of narcotic and psychotropic drugs from year to year has increased. Pharmacies are one of the first places for people to get abused drugs such as morphine, codeine, and Trihexyphenidyl so pharmacies are prone to theft of these drugs because of the effects of dependence. Therefore, a storage system for narcotics and psychotropic drugs is needed properly and correctly according to standards to ensure the safety of the quality and efficacy of drugs, and to look for factors related to storage discrepancies.

Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between the storage system for narcotic and psychotropic drugs and the presence of pharmacists, capital, and sales turnover.

Method: This research is an analytic descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach in April 2023. Data collection used a questionnaire with a sample of 15 pharmacies in the Kulon Progo district that met the inclusion criteria.

Results: The results of the Spearman test showed that there was a relationship between the presence of a pharmacist and the storage system for narcotic and psychotropic drugs (p<0.05), r = 0.765; there is a relationship between capital and storage cabinets (p<0.05), r = 0.523; there is a relationship between turnover and storage cabinets (p <0.05), r = 0.555.
